Life Enrichment at the COA offers a wide variety of adult learning courses, classes, workshops and panel discussions on vital aging issues such as reminiscence, self-image; friendship over the life span, memory retention, retirement, late life changes and loss, spirituality & aging, and story-telling. While some classes have tuition, many offerings are free. |

Autobiography and Life Review
Write your own life history in a ten-week course. We also offer related supplemental workshops and classes. |

Zest for Life
An eight week, award-winning course that teaches strategies for increasing life satisfaction, reducing signs of depression and approaching all of life with passion and joy!! |

Great Decisions
A study group designed to encourage bipartisan debate and discussion of the more important global issues that affect our lives every day. |

Monthly Grief Support Group
Provides an opportunity to learn how to cope with grief and begin the process of healing. Educational material is available, along with time to share with others who are grieving. |

Women's Legacies™
This program is designed to assist women to explore, express, transform and preserve our unique histories, stories, values, wisdom and dreams into legacies for our families and communities. It includes monthly writing circles, short programs, workshops and a 6-week intensive series. This program also supports a monthly scrapbooking class. |

Brain Aerobics
A class that offers the latest information, research, updates and practical applications of current brain research to improve mental performance. This is done through engaging exercises for a variety of cognitive skills, and allows participants to test their levels of skill and progress. The classes are meant to keep healthy minds active and inquiring minds informed and to provide useful insights for anyone wishing to improve cognitive performance. |

Age-ing to Sage-ing
A program whose goal is to move older adults from the paradigm of seeing aging only as a process of diminishments and losses to a new paradigm of an expanded consciousness that fills an elder’s life with meaning and purpose. This process enables older adults to become spiritually radiant, physically vital and socially responsible elders. It includes a 12-week intensive course, full, half-day programs and short programs and workshops. |

Home Management Resources and the Life Management Seminar
These seminars offer practical instruction and personal support in the basic skills needed to manage a home and family. Covering topics such as Basic Concepts of Order, Clearing out Clutter, Overcoming Fear, Personal Goals and Objectives, Nutrition and Meal Planning, Daily and Weekly Schedules and Finance, the 10-week format provides encouragement and coaching in how to use the course teachings. We are currently the only licensced facility in the state of Michigan to teach this curriculum. |
