Camp Safe Kids, a free safety day camp for children ages 9 to 11 will be Monday, June 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the COA Lowe Center.
Older adult volunteers act as mentors for the day and lead the kids through lessons and demonstrations about a variety of safety issues.
Topics include First Aid, water safety, traffic and bicycle safety, fire safety, power line safety, and much more. There is also a canine police demonstration. Students will be fitted for bicycle helmets and receive safety information to take home.
The program is a cooperative effort between the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Dowagiac Police and Fire Departments, Penn Township Fire Department, Midwest Energy, and Cass County COA. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
