Adult Day Service
COA Lowe Center, Cassopolis
Adult Day Service is designed to serve adults experiencing a decrease in physical, mental and/or social functioning. Adult Day Services maintains program goals, and will customize this goal set for each individual in the program.
Overall program goals include:
- Promoting individual independence by maintaining activity level and engagement in the community.
- Developing and supporting a personal sense of being valued.
- Providing relief for caregivers while enabling participants to remain in their homes as long as possible.
- Preserving dignity and quality of life through caring, appropriate, and enjoyable activities.
To achieve these goals, COA Adult Day Services provides:
- A safe, secure environment in a homelike atmosphere
- Professional staff including a registered nurse and a ratio of no more than three clients for each staff member.
- Health monitoring including vital signs, glucose checks, based on individual needs.
- Breakfast, USDA noontime meal, and snacks (modified for those with special diet needs).
- Activities planned to fit individual interests and abilities.
- Supportive services and respite for the caregiver.
- Care can be coordinated through other COA services.
- Assistance with activities of daily living and personal care, handled with dignity and respect.

Adult Day Service Fees
Adult Day Service clients are charged by the hour, with financial assistance available for those who qualify. Costs are discussed during the initial visit or home assessment. Caregiver Support Group
Caregivers, family members and health care professionals are invited to attend monthly meetings, held on the last Wednesday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Council on Aging. Guest speakers and programs are presented to assist family members in caring for their loved ones. During the meeting, care can be provided for your loved one at no cost. Please contact the COA to arrange care during the meeting.
