Care Services

The COA provides direct care for eligible clients in two settings:

• The Adult Day Services program, which allows caregivers to bring their loved ones to one of our Day Centers
• In-Home Respite services, which brings the care directly to the client’s home.

Quality of Service

These programs are designed to assist caregivers by providing freedom while offering peace of mind in knowing that the kindness and personal attention they give their loved ones is continuing in their absence.
 
Our mission is to provide services to caregivers and those suffering from dementia and other chronic conditions, while delaying or preventing long term placement.

Our staff believes that each person is an individual who deserves the best care, delivered with respect and dignity. Participants receive individual attention from staff and volunteers specially trained in dementia.

Adult Day Service

Adult Day Service is designed to serve adults experiencing a decrease in physical, mental and/or social functioning. Activities are tailored to the participant’s interests and abilities.

Assistance with activities of daily living and personal care are handled with dignity and respect.

The COA Adult Day Service Provides:

• A safe, secure environment in a homelike atmosphere
• Professional staff including a registered nurse and a ratio of no more than three clients for each staff member.
• Health monitoring including vital signs, glucose checks, based on individual needs.
• Breakfast, USDA noontime meal, and snacks (modified for those with special diet needs)
• Activities planned to fit individual interests and abilities
• Supportive services and time off for the caregiver
• Care can be coordinated through other COA services

Adult Day Service Fees

Adult Day Service clients are charged by the day, with financial assistance available for those who qualify. Costs are discussed during the initial visit or home assessment. Caregiver Support Group

Caregivers, family members and health care professionals are invited to attend monthly meetings, held on the last Wednesday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Council on Aging. Guest speakers and programs are presented to assist family members in caring for their loved ones. During the meeting, care can be provided for your loved one at no cost. Please contact the COA to arrange care during the meeting.

In-Home Respite

In-Home Respite provides personal care for individuals who may have difficulty leaving their homes.
 
Caregivers can take a nap, shop, or run errands while their loved one receives supervision and care in their own home. Aides can also assist your loved one with bathing and grooming, do light housekeeping, prepare meals and provide companionship.

In-Home Respite Fees
